Surround

These three pieces look at the relations between inside and
outside, container and contained and the possibility of disrupting
these boundaries. The rigidity of the form is contrasted with the
porosity of the unglazed parts of the stoneware while the cratering
of the layered glaze unsettles the smooth surface. These pieces
are explorations of Brutalism through clay in response to the
persistent regimes of extraction and totalitarianism. They explore
different ways of collective refusal and resistance.
